Frequently asked questions
How accurate is this NEET rank predictor?
It uses official NTA marks-vs-percentile data for NEET UG 2025 against the ~24 lakh candidate pool. The All-India Rank (AIR) is a direct function of percentile × candidates, so the number is mathematically consistent — but category ranks, state ranks, and round-specific cutoffs differ.
What is the difference between AIR and state rank?
15% of MBBS/BDS seats go through the All-India Quota (AIR-based) via MCC counselling; 85% go through state quotas where each state re-ranks candidates based on domicile. Your state rank can be very different from your AIR.
Do the college tiers apply to reservation categories?
These are synthesised from Unreserved (UR / General) round-1 MCC data. OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and PwD categories have substantially relaxed cutoffs — sometimes 2–3× higher AIR bands.
When does NTA release the NEET result and AIR?
NTA typically releases the NEET UG result 4–6 weeks after the exam. MCC All-India-Quota counselling starts roughly a month later; state counselling follows.
Is NEET a negative-marking exam?
Yes — +4 for correct, −1 for wrong, 0 for unattempted. Unlike KCET, random guessing costs you. Focus on accuracy, not attempt rate.
Where this data comes from
NEET UG 2025 official marks-vs-percentile data (NTA) · 2025 . Candidate pool: 2,400,000.
Grounded in the ~24 lakh candidate pool from NEET UG 2025. Percentile is the NTA-calculated 'percentage of candidates scoring below you'. Linearly interpolated between points for mid-range scores.
Caveat: this is an estimate from published distributions, not an official rank guarantee. Real ranks fluctuate 3–10 percentile points year-on-year based on paper difficulty, candidate pool size, and reservation rules. Use this as a ballpark.
