Privacy policy

Last updated: 19 April 2026

Examon ("we", "us") is a free practice app for KCET 2026 and NEET UG 2026 operated by the Examon team. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you stay in control. We follow the spirit and letter of India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.

What we collect

  • Practice data (attempts, answers, timings, bookmarks, spaced-repetition cards, streak, study plan, formula-recall grades). Stored first in your browser's localStorage. If you sign in, it is also written to your personal Firestore document so you can sync across devices.
  • Google account basics — your email address, display name, and Google user ID — if you choose to sign in with Google. We do NOT receive or store your Google password.
  • Error reports you explicitly submit (question ID, your reason, your email, timestamp). These go to our admin so we can fix content issues.
  • Anonymous analytics — page views, feature usage, and aggregate performance metrics via Google Analytics 4. No personally-identifying fields are sent.
  • Crash reports — when the app hits a runtime error, a stack trace, the URL, browser user-agent, and IP address are sent to Sentry so we can fix bugs. We never send form inputs, question answers, or free-text you've typed. Sentry retains this data under its own privacy terms (linked below).

What we do NOT collect

  • No phone numbers, addresses, Aadhaar, board roll numbers, or any identity document.
  • No payment data (Examon is free; we don't process payments).
  • No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.
  • No tracking across other websites or apps.

How we use your data

  • To show you your own progress, plan, and reports.
  • To sync your data across your devices when you sign in.
  • To improve Examon — which features are used, which questions are reported as broken, where people get stuck.
  • To email you back about error reports you've submitted.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We do not use your data to train public AI models.

Who can see your data

  • You — everywhere, on any device you sign in on.
  • Examon's admin — only for reports you explicitly submit, plus aggregate analytics that can't identify you.
  • Google / Firebase — we use Firebase (a Google product) as infrastructure. Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and Cloud Functions process your data under Google's privacy terms: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
  • Sentry — for error reports only. Their policy: sentry.io/privacy/.

Your rights under the DPDP Act, 2023

You can, at any time:

  • Access a copy of your data — use Settings → Data → Download JSON backup.
  • Correct or update it — every screen that shows your data lets you edit it.
  • Erase local data — Settings → Clear local data. To erase cloud data, email the address below and ask us to delete your users/<uid> document.
  • Withdraw consent — sign out and clear local data. Future use won't be tracked until you sign in again.
  • Export — the JSON backup gives you everything in a portable format.
  • Complain — you may approach the Data Protection Board of India if you're unsatisfied with how we've handled your request.

Data retention

  • Your users/<uid> document persists until you ask us to delete it or until 18 months after your last sign-in.
  • Error reports may be retained indefinitely (they help us fix long-tail issues), but they carry only your email and the report text — not your practice data.
  • Analytics events are aggregated and expire per Google Analytics' default retention (currently 14 months).

Children's data

Examon's users are typically 16–19 year-olds preparing for entrance exams. If you're under 18 in India, you should have your parent or guardian's permission to sign in. We don't knowingly process data of children under 13. If we learn we've done so, we will delete it.

Security

Data in transit uses HTTPS. Data at rest in Firestore uses Google's encryption. Firestore security rules enforce that only YOU can read/write your users/<uid> document. No other user can read your data. Admin access is limited to the Examon operator's email and is rule-enforced server-side.

Changes to this policy

We'll update the "last updated" date when we make changes. Material changes will be announced in-app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
